My Story
For many years, I rushed through my busy life. From the outside, it appeared to be exciting and fun-filled, but I experienced constant worry about things going wrong at work and in my relationships and not being seen as a success. To deal with these difficult emotions, I relied on caffeine, sugar and alcohol to deal with my worry and to keep going, despite fatigue, anxiety and physical pain.
I believed my self-worth was based on external achievements - climbing the corporate ladder, always being busy with friends, dating, exercising or exciting activities. I believed happiness would come from achieving a traditionally successful life that included a relationship and children. I felt lonely and unfulfilled when I spent time with myself as my life wasn't turning out the way I wanted it to.
As my failing health put an end to this lifestyle, I embarked on a self-healing journey, using nutrition, mindfulness and self-reflection to improve my physical and mental health. I began to understand how my low self-worth meant I was chasing a life built on expectations I had learned during my life and I could find contentment another way.
I educated myself about the impact my diet was having on my physical and emotional health, giving up caffeine, sugar and alcohol for good. Without the crutch of food to sustain me, I began to learn how to deal with difficult emotions such as grief, anger, sadness and worry, exploring ideas such as acceptance, self-compassion and gratitude.
I learnt to accept the limitations placed on me by complicated health issues including ME/CFS, Irlen's Syndrome and Mould Illness. These difficulties resulted in me exploring holistic healing ideas including the mind-body connection, the impact of trauma and emotional dysregulation, spirituality, neuroplasticity and a 12-step program.
I further developed my knowledge by training as a certified Health Coach, learning powerful coaching techniques, the science behind the blood sugar balancing diet and how many lifestyle factors impact our health. The combination of formal learning and lived experience means I am uniquely placed to offer you a shortcut to improved physical and emotional health through my 8 session programme.
